Dr. Harold Eugene Vann II
Birth and Family
Pastor Harold Eugene Vann II was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 7, 1965 and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is the second of two children born to Mr. Harold Eugene Vann, Sr. and Ms. Geline Caldwell-Vann.
Pastor Vann completed grade school at Los Angeles Senior High School in 1983. In May 1989, he graduated from California Baptist University in Riverside, California with a B.A. degree in Communication Arts, with an emphasis on public speaking. In May 1996 he graduated from Duke University, The Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree. In May 2015 he graduated from Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California with a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree. His discipline is Pastoral Theology.
He accepted his call to preach the gospel in 1992 and his call to pastoral ministry in 1993.
He was ordained on January 5, 1997 by Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer, Senior Pastor of Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California.
On December 1, 1997 he was asked to serve as Pastor of the Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia. Pastor Vann served for seven (7) years (1997-2004). In June of 2005 he realized the mission and planted Refuge Christian Church, which he organized in Los Angeles, California. The inaugural corporate worship service was Sunday, March 27, 2005, Resurrection Day. Refuge’s ministry stood bold and strong until August 2009. They sought to Help Hurting People Recover. Because of that ministry over 25 souls were baptized and are now a part of the kingdom of God.
On February 24, 2013 he was asked to serve as Pastor of the New Name Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California.
